2004

Winner

The Montblanc Young Directors Award 2004 goes to Àlex Rigola and his Teatre Lliure ensemble from Barcelona who have created a powerful evening of theatre with their production of Berthold Brecht's "Santa Joana dels Escorxadors" (Saint Joan of the Slaughterhouses).
The jury members Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, Thaddaeus Ropac and Peter Simonischek honored the piece with a price of EUR 10,000 because it brilliantly unified political rage and artistic craft and convincingly placed Brecht's critique of capitalism in today's world.

Winner

For his excellent production Àlex Rigola received the award trophy, the Montblanc "Max Reinhardt Pen" which was exclusively designed and hand-crafted for this year's winner of the Young Directors Project during the Salzburg Festival 2004.
