Winner
The Montblanc Young Directors Award 2003 goes to the Latvian director Alvis Hermanis for his direction of Nikolai Gogol´s "Revizor", a production of Jaunais Rigas Teatris in cooperation with the Salzburg Festival.
Alvis Hermanis received the price money of EUR 10,000 and the exclusive award trophy, the "Max Reinhardt Pen", for his excellent production that offers a new point of view by inventing a scene of action, which creates new moments in Gogol´s comedy.
The jury members Andrea Breth, Helga Rabl-Stadler and Thaddaeus Ropac were overall impressed by the high standard reflected in all works that took part in the "Young Directors Project" 2003.
