It is recommended to change the battery approximately every two years, or when the second hand moves in jumps of 4 seconds. The mechanical movement of the Montblanc watches (Réserve de Marche) is wound up by hand and runs for approx. 40 hours. The indicator on the dial shows how much energy is stored in the watch. When not wearing the watch, care should be taken to wind it up regularly, since it is detrimental to a mechanical movement not to be running. more

The automatic movements of the Montblanc watches are wound by the natural movement of the wearer’s wrist. If you cease to wear the watch, it will run for approx. 40 hours. If the watch stops through not being worn, it is advisable to wind it again by turning the crown 10 – 15 times. It is then necessary to set the correct time and date again. more
