Winner

The prize-winner this year is David Bösch, who captured the hearts not only of the audience but also of the jury with his production of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado about Nothing’.

The prize was awarded to a production that returns to the popular theatre origins of the genre Comedy – and that at the same time offers a modern and incisive interpretation of the theme. With the outstanding actors from the Thalia Theater, Bösch was able to revitalise a text going back more than 400 years, to retell it quite independently; the ‘spirit’ of the Bard could almost be felt in the Volksgarten.

The love stories are presented with plenty of farce, but Bösch also makes it quite clear that the foundation of this comedy is a minefield.
