Montblanc Gallery new installation: Guardian

 In cooperation with the Hamburg Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, the Montblanc Cultural Foundation has acquired every two years since 1997 a contemporary work of art which reflects in the widest sense the Montblanc philosophy behind the themes of “Time” and “Time anchor”.

On 1st March 2007, during a glamorous vernissage in the Montblanc Gallery, to which took part many important guests, Montblanc presented the artwork “Guardian” of the Swiss artist Sylvie Fleury.

Three extrinsic looking beings, solidified in high gloss fibreglass with twinkling eyes, in the middle of a pop-world of pink soft ice stripes. Are they a symbol of all unknown? Are they showing us our future or are they coming from the future? Are they warning us to slow down in an engineered world? Their intention is not clear, but there is enough time to think about it.

In this sense “Guardian” also takes up the brand philosophy of Montblanc: to take time to reflect, time for feelings and thoughts.

 

This work of art is exhibited in the Montblanc Gallery in the Hamburg headquarters and open to the public. After two years the work is presented on permanent loan to the Gallery of Modern Art.
