presented the MONTBLANC YOUNG DIRECTORS AWARD 2007 for the best work of direction to

Simon Versnel

for his direction of the festival contribution LE SALON, performed by the Belgian theatre ensemble Peeping Tom.

The Jury members added the following comments to their decision:

Using conventional theatrical instruments – language, motion and music –

LE SALON by Peeping Tom is a truly unconventional performance which pushes the use of the body to the absolute limits.

The performers’ incredible expressiveness fascinates the audience and touches them in a truly existential way. They are individual, and unique, and yet in their distinctiveness they represent all people.

Peeping Tom’s production, with its very subtle use of rhythm, displays a remarkable bandwidth of human emotions and is a touching tribute to life.

The jury members honoured the piece with a prize of EUR 10,000 as well as a Montblanc Max Reinhardt Pen, which has been especially designed for this occasion.
