Writing and reading are the foundation of our culture, values that should be accessible to everyone. Despite this millions of people throughout the world, in particular children are not able to write. Thus Montblanc, the brand of writing culture feels a moral and cultural duty to support UNICEF in their various efforts against the global problem of illiteracy.
149 leading celebrities agreed to take part in a world-wide campaign in 2005, revealing their thoughts on the value and importance of writing under the motto "Sign up for the right to write".
These handwritten reflections were auctioned in spring 2005. In addition Montblanc invited the 3 internationally renowned artists Andrée Putman, Helmut Jahn and Tom Sachs to create three special Art Packagings for the legendary Montblanc Meisterstück 149 to communicate the program in all Montblanc distribution outlets worldwide.
